What to Expect During a Kitchen Remodel

The sequence of a kitchen remodel, roughly how long each stage takes, and how to keep life running at home.

July 15, 2026

A kitchen remodel is not one job, it is several jobs in a specific order. Demolition comes first. Then rough-in work for plumbing and electrical, which has to be inspected before walls close back up. Only then do cabinets, counters, tile, and finish work go in.

That order is why material lead times matter so much. If cabinets arrive three weeks late but the plumbing rough-in is already done, the schedule stalls. We confirm the order timeline before we start so the sequence is realistic.

Plan for the time without a working kitchen. Most families set up a temporary prep area with a microwave, a coffee maker, and a cooler, and use a bathroom or utility sink for water. Knowing the window in advance makes it manageable.

Expect dust and noise, and expect people in your home. We protect floors and cover openings to keep dust contained. It is still a construction site, and we will tell you honestly where protection helps and where it is not possible.

At the end, keep your documentation. Receipts, product model numbers, and the written scope help if you ever need warranty service on an appliance or sell the home.
